Shaheen Nazerali is a video editor and filmmaker. News and current events inspire the stories she develops and as an editor, she mostly cuts documentaries.
She pursues challenging topics, offering nuance and variety of perspective. A notable project in this vein is an interactive web series, Rearview Mirror, where the viewer’s choices change the outcome of the story.
With a decade of hands-on experience in film editing and directing, Shaheen brings expertise to every project. Her work has been funded by Tribeca Film Institute and she has post production credits including PBS, HBO, and a Vimeo Staff Pick. In 2019 she was Editor-in-Residence at SXSW, where she participated in a 24 hour hackathon film challenge. She has continued to sharpened her short-form storytelling and fast cutting skills in the branded content realm, editing for Conde-Naste, Weight Watchers, and later as Director of Post Production for Vox Creative.
As a manager, Shaheen has transformed in-house post-production operations, such as successfully implementing remote-friendly workflows using Lucid Link. Her direction fosters a collaborative environment, allowing everyone to succeed.
She grew up in The Netherlands, became an adult in New York, and lives in Santa Monica, California. Born to multilinguals, Shaheen also speaks French, Dutch, Spanish and Urdu, with varying levels of fluency.
Her exposure has shaped her into a thoughtful creative professional who is focused, adaptable, and proficient at giving and addressing notes. From commercials to documentaries and into scripted, Shaheen works to deliver the best, prompt, final cut.

Rearview Mirror is a modern day noir series about an unsuspecting cab driver who helps a woman in distress only to get caught up in a tale of an unwanted pregnancy, a secret birth, and possibly murder.
Selvan, a ride-share-app driver, picks up Kriti and immediately knows something is wrong. All she’ll tell him is that she needs to get away. Set in a loosely knit Indian community, Selvan decides to help her escape. When she disappears leaving nothing but a bloodied sheet behind, he returns to her neighborhood to find out more. Neighbors talk in his backseat, hinting at an unwed pregnancy and felony murder.
Soon, Selvan finds himself suspected by the cops and her family. The forces of patriarchy are out to reclaim Kriti and the legal system is determined to imprison her—whose side will Selvan take?

She’s lived in Amsterdam growing up, became an adult in New York, and now is super-adulting in Santa Monica. She’s a polyglot, speaking French, Dutch, Spanish and Urdu, with varying levels of fluency.
Hobbies include tennis, motorcycling and adventures with the dog.
